Ontario Power Authority

The Ontario Power Authority is Ontario’s governing body for the Feed-In-Tariff program. Together with partners like Solar Power Network, the Ontario Power Authority aims to develop the most reliable, cost-effective and sustainable electricity system.
Following the contracting phase in Solar Power Network’s development process, the plans for your solar panel installation will be submitted to the Ontario Power Authority for approvals.
The Ontario Power Authority will be looking for the following:
- 20-year right to locate solar equipment
- Suitability of equipment for the structure in question;
- Availability of local connections to feed energy back into the grid;
- Appropriate parameters in place for proper flow of generated energy into the local community.
Once all requirements are found to be met, the Ontario Power Authority will approve the contract and Solar Power Network can move forward with installation. Throughout the duration of your contract, Solar Power Network will continue to work with the Ontario Power Authority to ensure the ongoing efficiency and peak operations from your rooftop units.
